Location:

Summit Chutes, directly west of Mt. Rose Summit along the east ridge of Tamarack Peak.

Snow Cover:

Decent (2-4 feet).  Windloading has deepened some locations, and scoured others.  New snow of 3-5 inches has hidden obstacles such as rocks and stumps.  We skied with caution, and still tagged a few hazards.  Snow coverage looked alrig...

Its too early to worry about avalanches right?  WRONG!  #dontbedumb

After my scathing comments in the last blog entry, about the guys who triggered the hourglass avalanche, you would think I'd know better.  Nope.  I guess that we are just as eager to ski as anyone, and can ultimately overlook the same warnings.

We were blessed with snow this November.  Tahoe got lucky, and was slammed with an early season storm which plastered the high elevations with a cement-like layer.  A few feet of the deepest densest snow imaginable, with a bit of pow as the cherry on top.  The Nevada ski season went from zero to hero overnight, game off to game on, no shot...
